I believe that learning is a very beautiful thing. I think that with about every experience in life, a lesson or something interesting comes out of it, and can make life much more meaningful. Learning is a very versatile subject, because when you meet somebody new, you are learning about them, you learn about yourself as you grow and become a bigger part of the world, and you learn new ideas and concepts daily as you experience new adventures, travels, and food... learning basically never ends, it is always present and it is always involved in everything that people do. Personally, I think education is a large tool in teaching the basics and the different ways of learning, however, I think true learning and individual development comes purely out of life experience and making new discoveries on your own.
The times in my life in which I have learned the most have been when I have made mistakes, and learning from them, like when I stole crayons as a 6 year old, or when I got in trouble as a child for talking too often during class. Although these things may seem minor for a small child, I consider them as great learning lessons. If you learn early, you carry it with you forever. When my mom found out that I was stealing crayons when I was little, she discovered that it was simply because I thought they were pretty, but she taught me why stealing of any kind was wrong, and after learning this, I never stole a single crayon (or anything) ever again. This is where I began to learn about my morals and values. When I got in trouble for talking in class as a child, I always felt really bad, but it failed to stop for a while, because I have always enjoyed talking! However, once I learned true respect and when talking is right, I fixed the problem. Although I still talk all the time, I know when its good to do so because of my prior learning experiences.
Really, I could write forever about learning, and the many things it enhances in life, but the main point of learning that I really appreciate is simply how it teaches values, validates interests, and makes a person discover who they truly are. Without learning, the world would be nothing.
I think that the concept of learning morals is an interesting one-- nice take. The crayon example is great! How do we really find out about morals. I wonder if any are in-born?
