DIY Story

I have always loved to create random contraptions with things I find around my house or things I find in stores. One of my favorite things to make when I was little was different types of "guns" out of pvc pipe. I would make different types of marshmallow guns that were just powered by your lungs. Another type of "gun" that was probably the most fun out of the two was a potato gun. The potato gun was powered by a igniter and hairspray. It could launch potatoes the length of football field which at the time I thought was pretty awesome. Now that I'm older I have stepped away from the marshmallow guns and started  woodworking. Woodworking is really fun because you can create so many cool things that can be used around the house. One of my favorite pieces that I made is a windsor chair. The windsor chair was also the hardest thing I have made in woodworking so far. From had carving the shape of the seat to be most comfortable for you, to having to steam bend the sack-back and hand sand the entire chair before and after final assembly. With woodworking you have to be very precise with every  measurement and cut you make otherwise the whole creation just does not come out right. But that is what makes it fun! I think at least.  It challenges you to do the very best you can. I have also made different types of tables, lamps and gum ball dispensers. One thing that I look at and say "I could make that" is a roll cage in a race car. I say that because I actually race cars my self and love to watch my friend do fabrication work on my car. The only reason why I have not tried to make one my self is because my welding skills kinda suck and welding is a art-form that takes years to get good at. Once my welding skills get better I will defiantly try to make a roll cage.
What is DIY culture? I think DIY culture is all about taking ones thoughts and making it happen with your own skills.
Bellow is the style of windsor chair that I made.
