Learning

When I think about learning, the first thing that comes to mind is everyday life. Everyday we are learning new and interesting things. Most the time we do not even realize that we are learning. Wether we are sitting in class or sitting in traffic, we are constantly taking in new information.
For me, I feel like I am learning the most when I am automobile drifting. With drifting I feel as tho I am constantly learning new techniques to keep the car sideways and get as close to the lead car as possible. Almost every event I am at a different racetrack learning how the course is set it, how grippy the paithment is, figuring out how fast I can enter this turn at, when to transition to get the perfect line through the course, etc. At events I watch and ask my friends about their line through the course to learn more about there driving. I also tandem (when two cars go out on the track one leads and the other tries to follow as close as possible) with them during practice sessions to truly see and experience their style of driving. The time I learn most at drift events is when it comes times for qualifications and then tandem competition. I learn the most then because that is when the pressure starts to be applied that this is not a fun event everyone is here to win. But one thing that I have finally learned is that if you treat the competition as if it were a fun event with your friends, the pressure won't get to you and all you do is go throw down the best run you possible can. Tandem competition teaches me the most, because I will be able to tandem with everyone amazingly in practice, but then for some reason I push my self way harder which in the past two competitions has coast me the top four and at the last event getting to the top 8. Every time I mess up in competition I know exactly where I messed and what I need to do next time to make sure that doesn't happen again. Without learning this planet would be nothing.

Below is one of my favorite pictures of myself from this years pro-am event out front of the Detroit central station.
