Surely there is no
one-size-fits-all approach to learning, as we have seen dramatic increases in
the number of learning tools made available. The 7 styles of learning includes:
Visual, solitary, auditory, verbal, kinesthetic, social, and logical. I fall under
the categories of visual and logical (mathematical) learning. When it comes to
learning new topics, I create maps in my mind, replacing words with pictures,
color, spatial understanding, and other visual media to help myself learn.
Also, when reading an article or book, I aim to create and use lists by
extracting key points from my material, as system thinking such as this helps
me understand the bigger picture of any material. Visualization comes easily to
me. Whenever I am stepping out of my comfort zone regarding learning, I learn
best by creating graphic organizers such as diagrams and concept maps that use
visual symbols represent ideas and info. If I am ever trying to remember
something, I tend to close my eyes and visualize the information desired. I am
thankful to be a visual learner because it helps with visualizing any general
information. Usually, the human brain can only take 5-7 bits of information,
but with my spatial and visual brain, I can easily remember double that. For
instance, my specialty is with numbers, so if you were to tell me to remember
someones full phone number, it would not be difficult at all.
