Writing

Writing has been something that I am kind of indifferent about, I never loved it, but I also never hated it. I have always been okay at it but my writing probably has not improved much since middle school. I know that I am better at the more concrete kind of paper with research and evidence, it is the creative writing that I am not very good at. I don't really practice at it very much because I would really rather be doing something that I enjoy doing more. My lack of improvement was in part because of a string of bad writing and english teachers, that struggled to give me any useful feedback, so I really had no reason to try my hardest. I think that the teaching of writing in schools has really gone down hill. I cannot even count how many five paragraph essay I have written. Who came up with the arbitrary number five. What reasoning is there to extending or limiting every paper that you write to five paragraphs. Every subject is different, and writing should reflect that. Writing is and art, it is a fluid process of trying to perfect the english language. It is not a a equation or recipe that has to be followed to the letter. That said, it not at all something that I am against, in fact quite the opposite. I know that going into the future, writing is probably going to be a very important part of the rest of my education, and what ever job I may have in the future.
