So, mentioned in my previous blog, 9gag, the community I wrote about, has elements of its own language applied by the users. In recent times on the site, "Captain" has been used very much by the people of the community. The "Captain" will usually be called upon when something is not very obvious in a post, and after they have helped, they often "fly away" or leave in some weird fashion. "Captain" is actually derived from the phrase "Captain Obvious." About two years ago, anyone called the "Captain" was ridiculed and made fun of because the message behind the post was that obvious, but these days no one tries to understand the picture, and they go straight to the comments, looking for a "Captain." I actually don't like the term just because it misuses the phrase, even though it is its own thing now. Well that was actually longer than I thought it would be. I'll let that be the jargon for 9gag. Oh wait, "banana for scale," I was there for the origin of this jargon. I just wanted to point that out.
Considering how long just one of the 9gag jargon was, I'll mention just one of my Community Hack jargon. So we are on the same page, the Community that I joined for that project was the fan base of Connor Franta, a popular YouTube vlogger. So one of the jargon that is used in this community is "#[Something] Collabs make my life." I am not entirely sure if this is jargon amongst the community, but on all of the collaboration videos that I have seen, there are a multitude of those comments.
So this has been the jargon of these communities.
