In terms of research for my make, I have found that finding articles and journals to be somewhat difficult. It’s very difficult to discover sources on Google that contain a substantial amount of ethos.
However, after Friday’s class, I feel much more confident when it comes to the process of discovering sources that contain more compelling and credible material. Now that I understand how to navigate the Regis Library Databases, the research aspect of the I-Make project seems less daunting.
I have come to understand that key words are essential when it comes to discovering information in regards to my make. Thanks to Dr. Reitmeyer, I now have another key phrase to add to my search topics. That key phrase is “shoe art.” I can’t believe that I didn’t think of this, it’s so obvious. I should probably remind you that I am custom painting a pair of canvas shoes, either Toms, Converse, or Vans. Right now, I am currently researching painting tips and techniques in regards to decorating a canvas. I am also searching for information on all the name brands that I mentioned above.
It has been a couple of years since I have been required to do research for a project. Thus, I forgot some of the steps in regards to the process of examining sources. From what I remember, the processes for those assignments and this assignment are somewhat similar. For instance, we referenced library databases. However, I have discovered that I now have access to better quality material.
All in all, research is difficult, however, I now know what I should be looking for, thanks to Friday’s class! I’m convinced that I will be able to find interesting substances to incorporate into my make. Sure research is tedious, but I know that this process will pay off and thus, the creation of my make will be much more rewarding as a result.
