Joining a Community

Basically, joining a community is just like anything when it is a new experience. What happens when you join a community is that you must learn new things in order to understand what is going on, and also so you fit in with the rest of those that are in the community. There are many elements that go into what a community is, so this is where learning the new things of the community comes into play. Some elements of a community are language, customs, behavior; the combinations for those possibilities are endless, depending on the community. And going back to what it is like to join a community, well that depends of the individual. Different reactions can come from each person, and sometimes one may leave a community because it may not have liked the experience with the group involved.
This was not the case with my example of the community that I joined. The community that I refer to is that of 9gag, the site where one may go to post pictures of funny things or whatever may suit their liking, seeing as the site has expanded its demographic widely since I first joined. You do not necessarily need to do anything to be apart of the community, but if you wish to interact with others or see certain posts, you must create an account on their website. On 9gag, I have noticed that there are different types of users on the site, and I'm actually able to put them into little factions. It needn't be said here what those are, but just know that you do not need to be a specific type of person to use this site. Thinking about it, I suppose that there is something that you must do to be apart of the community; use the site often. There are a lot of jokes that have come out of this site, and if you want to be able to use the local lingo, you need to have seen the post; a lot is posted everyday, so if you wait too long, you may have missed the joke.
Well, that's my time, I have reached my goal.

Here's a link to the site, if you're interested:
